   IOM Dublin

IOM is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. As the leading international organization for migration, IOM acts with its partners in the international community to:

  • Assist in meeting the growing operational challenges of migration management
  • Advance understanding of migration issues
  • Encourage social and economic development through migration
  • Uphold the human dignity and well-being of migrants

IOM works with its partners, both governmental and non-governmental in implementing programmes to fulfil its mandate.

IOM Dublin currently runs assisted voluntary return and reintegration programmes that include:

Voluntary Assisted Return and Reintegration Programme

Voluntary Assisted Return and Reintegration for Unaccompanied Minors and Aged-Out Minors

The programmes are open to asylum seekers from non-EEA countries who wish to return home voluntarily but do not have the means, including the necessary documentation, to do so.

The application procedure involves signing a form and a declaration of voluntary return. Returnees under the IOM programme travel as regular passengers. The reasons for their stay in Ireland and for their return remain confidential. IOM Dublin is able to provide assistance in obtaining valid travel documents from embassies and consular missions in Ireland or other European countries.

While emphasising the dignity and security of the return, IOM Dublin ensures that all returnees have appropriate transit and post-arrival assistance from IOM missions in countries of transit and destinations.

IOM Dublin also offers:

Family Reunification Assistance

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MIGRANTS:

Changes in IOM Dublin voluntary assisted return services (VARRP)

From March 18thth 2009, IOM Dublin project services are changing. These changes will happen immediately.

IOM Dublin will no longer be able to provide irregular migrants with assistance to return home. Irregular migrants are those who don’t have legal status in Ireland.

This change will ensure that IOM Dublin can continue to provide a quality service to those migrants who are allowed to be assisted under the programme.

Applications will continue to be accepted from Asylum Seekers, and IOM will continue to provide return and reintegration assistance to this group.

A small number of applications from irregular migrants with particular vulnerabilities, will be accepted on a case by case basis. The decision to accept cases of this nature will be made by IOM Dublin.

If you submit an application by post which is no longer eligible for our programme, we will write to you personally and inform you of this.  You may also phone the IOM Dublin office, and we can let you know whether we are able to assist you to return home.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we adapt our services, and we are happy to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to fill in a query online and send it to us, or you may contact the IOM Dublin office as below.
