Passport Application & Renewal of Passport
Moldovan nationals applying for a new or replacement passport in Ireland can apply at the Public Notary in Ireland for Power of Attorney. This application for a power of Attorney specifies that the applicants give the authority to someone else to act on their behalf at the Passport Agency in Moldova to get a new passport valid for 10 years. The Moldovan National who is in Ireland should apply for legalisation (Apostile) of the Power of Attorney at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Hainault House, 69-71 St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2, tel. +353 (01) 408 2174). Applications for a new passport should include 2 passport sized colour photographs (3.5cm *4.5cm) and 2 colour photographs (10cm*15cm).These should be sent to the designated Power of Attorney with all other documents. The person who is designated as the Power of Attorney should then apply at the Passport Office in Moldova for a new passport and should process and forward the new passport to Ireland

Grounds for Acquisition of Citizenship
Citizenship of the Republic of Moldova can be acquired by:
a) birth;
b) recognition;
c) adoption;
d) recovery of citizenship (persons who previously posessed citizenship may recover it dependent on criteria as laid out in the Law on Citizensip of the Republic of Moldova)
e) naturalisation.
Irish Born Children
Citizenship of a children born outside Moldova Children of Moldovan nationals who are born outside the state of Moldova are automatically entitled to Moldovan citizenship. Children born in Ireland who wish to obtain Modovan nationality should obtain an Apostile from the
Department of Foreign Affairs,
Hainault House, 69-71 St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2, tel. +353 (01) 408 2174). In Moldova, at the Documentation Office the Moldovan National shall present the Irish Birth Certificate and will apply for a transcription procedure and obtain a Moldovan Birth Certificate for the child.
Dual Citizenship
Moldovan legislation allowing dual citizenship went into effect on October 18, 2003. There is no requirement that dual nationals enter Moldova on their Moldovan passports
