IOM can assist in organising the travel arrangements for family members of recognised refugees to come to Ireland, once the Irish Government has issued the necessary visas. IOM can accompany family members to the airport in the country of origin to ensure that they board the plane without any difficulties. If the flight involves a transfer in another airport, IOM staff can meet and assist family members to change planes. In some European countries, the involvement of IOM in transit means that it is not necessary for family members to obtain a transit visa. IOM staff in Dublin can also meet family members on their arrival in Ireland. Additionally, in certain circumstances, IOM can identify escorts to travel with unaccompanied children to Ireland.
Some of the potential costs involved in travel for the purposes of family reunification are:
Cost of the air tickets for the family members
Cost of transit visas
Cost of IOM service fee (US$90 per person, up to a maximum of US$360)
Costs of any escorts
